About These Series

WINGS Phonics (award-winning) Decodables

Make reading and decoding easy with quirky tales that amuse and engage. The series focus is on foundational skills for phonological awareness, pedagogy, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. All stories have been produced by Australian authors and illustrators using humour and entertaining imagery that adds meaning to the simple texts. Each book comes with teaching support with tips on what to do before, during and after reading. This clear in-book instruction structures the learning into easy-to-follow stages so that educators can suitably introduce the letter-sound relationships, segmenting the sounds to decode words, and thus increasing their students' reading with greater confidence. Books are currently segmented into sets (packs) so you can build your program around your students’ needs. Category winner Educational Publishing Awards Australia 2021.

WINGS Consolidation Phonics

Consolidate skills or take students further in phonics with these Consolidation Phonics sets (packs). Make reading fun while exploring phonic fundamentals and introducing a wider range of phonemes, blends, digraphs, spelling patterns and more to engage and educate children of all ages. Longer stories and tales to make you laugh.

WINGS Phonics A - Z

Phonics Aa - Zz is a collection of 26 entertaining stories that allow children to read and hear letters and their various sounds used at the beginning, middle and end of words. These books combine two of the most common teaching practices - synthetic & analytic phonics - to enable children to improve their reading, comprehension and vocabulary skills.

Shortlisted in the 2016 Educational Australia Awards.

WINGS Science Inquiry ~ Solar System

Solar System Science readers allow young minds to explore planets, moons and other objects in our solar system. Gives children tools to research, investigate answers and report their findings and have fun with inquiry-orientated activities to make them think about what it takes to go beyond Earth. Science Inquiry encourages children to actively ask questions, summarise and communicate outcomes and engage in investigations that they design. This avoids the practice of children passively absorbing information.

This series helps children understand the language used in mathematics. By focusing on the meaning of words, symbols and functions, we improve mathematical literacy and give children the know-how to move forward and better interpret assessment questions with confidence.

Foundation Readers: Making vocabulary and mathematics accessible to K-2+ children. 12 readers which use storytelling and visuals to explore concepts and language that students can apply in the real world. Matched to the Australian curriculum.

Mathematics Comics: 5 fun comic readers which use role-play to explore symbols and language to solve real-world problems. Covering the various terms used in narrative test questions for plus, take, times, divide and equals.

* The comprehension questions encourage higher order thinking and rich discussion about the text. Every Story Seekers title includes a specific phonics focus based on a programme-wide scope and sequence and they are specifically built to strengthen students’ decoding, improving phonemic and phonological awareness and build strong linguistic comprehension.

We Are Australians
What does it mean to be a citizen of Australia?

written by Duncan Smith and Nicole Godwin, with paintings by Jandamarra Cadd.

Short-listed - Children's Book Council of Australia

REVIEW: Its brief words evoke deeper meanings, ones that will be conveyed through discussion and sharing of stories, as children learn of the First Nations people, here for over 65,000 years, living alongside other migrants to this country. The spare words are enlarged by the luminous illustrations, offering large swathes of colour on each page, interspersed with dot paintings, images of many people of this country, working together, singing, dancing, painting and telling stories. The face on the front cover stares out at us, inviting us in, ready to share a story. And what a story there is to tell.  Fran Knight - ReadPlus
